The 1UP Network has released their list of nominees for game of the year, and voting is now open at the 1UP Web page. We noticed something while scanning through the list of nominees: Kane and Lynch: Dead Men made the cut.
I know this isn't Destructoid's nominee list, and I know that 1UP leaves voting to their readers, but we wouldn't have included Kane and Lynch: Dead Men in a Best Action Game lineup. Cashwh0re.com might, but would you?

1UP Network, widely recognized as the
authority in video game industry news and content, today announced the
nominations for the 5th annual 1UP Awards, honoring the year's most popular
games. Voting is open to the gaming public (http://bestof2007.1up.com) now
through Dec. 31, 2007. Award winners will be announced at a special
ceremony on February 20, 2008.
"2007 was an extremely exciting year for video games," states Sam
Kennedy, editor-in-chief of 1UP.com and site director of 1UP Network. "With
the further establishment of new platforms, coupled with the continuous
advancements in video game technology, this year delivered some of the best
titles to date. The 1UP Awards are truly the voice of the gamers and by
handing the judging reigns over the gaming community, the developers get
direct praise from their fans. We greatly look forward to seeing who the
gamers think were the cream of the crop this year."
The 1UP Awards were created to empower the true game critics -- the
gamers themselves -- to use their own experiences and opinions to determine
the best PC and console games of the year. Gamers will be able to vote for
their favorite titles, selected by 1UP Network's esteemed group of editors,
in 13 categories, including a brand-new category, "Best Console
Downloadable Game."
2007's stellar line-up of games has resulted in multiple nominations
for several leading game publishers, including 26 for Sony Computer
Entertainment America, 24 for Electronic Arts, 17 for Nintendo, and 12 for

After playing through and beating this game....no thanks. There's gotta be a better game than this out there.
Besides, for all you know they're thinking of the PC version when they made that nomination. :P You know, the GOOD version.
Other than that, there are some odd choices here and there, but decent I guess. I do want The Orange Box to win every category by default, though, just 'cause it deserves THAT much praise.
I'm really afraid Halo 3 will take the shooting and multiplayer crowns, though, if not the whole shebang, too. And, if you happen to play OTHER shooters (like CoD4 and TF2) you know that'd be a travesty to the highest degree.
but there is no replay value.
the cover system is broken.
the game was too short.
there were very few weapons.
the online part of it looks like it was not finished.
if Haze and Army of Two suck,
i will kill someone.
and Heavenly Sword?.. lame.
Paper Mario on Wii!!!?? .. not even good for a minute.
after playing for 4 hours, i gave it away.
pure crap.
the Gamecube Paper Mario was TONS better
ahhhh most of that list is crap
If you have the means to play it, do so. Slacker.

I must have missed Rock Crysis, I think that's the one where you beat up aliens with guitars, drums and mics.
Spend less money on game development and pay off the reviewers
or
Spend more money on game development and make it a good game.
Either way you come out even, why not take the latter and be a good sport?
After every submissions you gotta scroll down and do another one.
Why not just make it one big thing?
And quite a bit of the games listed there really don't deserve to be up there.
Crackdown was fiendishly good fun. For three weeks I couldn't stop playing that game. Good times.
@Fading_Star:
Get your lazy gamer ass up and play God of War 2. Fantastic Game!!
I will. Thanks dude :).
Also, Orange Box FTW!
Also, monkey nuts.
Also, what is this 'Halo' you speak of?
Also, something irrelevant.

I pretended I did so he didn't feel like he wasted his 60 bucks.....
but dear god..... I expected so much more from IO Interactive.
Hopefully they're just using all their resources to make the next Hitman game. The animation in Kane & Lynch looks like an early PS2 game. Plus on top of that, the framerate is amazingly horrible and it's not exactly clear what the fuck you're even supposed to be doing all the time.
I would've just liked to play Freedom Fighters again with now-gen graphics. Also..... the voices that Lynch hears when he's dying actually have a woman saying "I love you Lynch"...... what the fuck?
His old lady actually called him Lynch? Like it's his real name or something? Give me a fucking break. Also..... the sounds levels of the voice recording is out of control. You can hear the clipping when anyone yells loudly it gets distorted. It seems like it's some flimsy pirated Mexican version of the game it was supposed to be.
When I went to play CoD 4 afterwards, Kane & Lynch actually made me worse at CoD 4. The controls really fucked with my head.
Anyway, yeah...... why is it on that list?
I say NO to your list.
I never read that rag of a website anyway...

Game(s) of the Year
Orange Box (It had 5 freakin' games in it!)
The game is made of win.
Rock Crysis FTW, though.
I say we should mandate everybody to go register at 1up is they haven't already and vote Kane & Lynch as GOTY just so we can make them regret putting it on the list of nominations.
can i get a hell yeah?
Anyway, I hope people just forget about Jeff Fatzman or whatever his name is pretty soon. I think he shoulda been fired awhile ago personally as he always seemed to me at least, to be more interested in causing a stir than giving an objective opinion.
It really does look like the threw a bunch of random games in there. NHL and NBA street for GOTY?!
Anyway Math Effects wins. Haven't felt that way about a game in a long time. Totally involving and epic.
