190 million households to have consoles in 2012 photo

The Diffusion Group, a research and development firm, has predicted that around 190 million households will have an Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, or a Wii by 2012. Also, 2012 is the same year humans will enjoy the flying car, automatic toaster (with bread grabber), and The Beatles on iTunes. The Diffusion Group didn’t predict any of the former things, but my ESP is actually working today. In addition to a massive amount of homes having consoles, they are also predicting that 80 percent of them will have the Internet.

The Diffusion Group’s co-writer told Gamasutra that “[today’s] males between the ages of 18 and 35” are “heavy viewers of online video and quite comfortable spending money for online digital media.” He did not add that, in 2012, males would have information plugs in the backs of their heads to make learning karate or Mega Man levels easier.

I really can’t refute the results of the firm’s research and prediction, but I wonder if many of those consoles in 2012 will actually get used on a regular basis. My mother has a Wii but it just kind of sits on the shelf, lifelessly. Its drive wants to spin the latest CSI or Mario Party, but she refuses.

I hate the 360 hardware but they have a lot of great games there. The wii is like a toy.
And the ps3 need more games, maybe the 360 can lend them some.

That's funny why is it when I see these three systems side by side they forget to picture the HUGE grey power supply to the Xbox? I honestly like the fact that my PS3 has no such box attached to it.

@nycexc3:

All Wii's come with that stand. If you didn't get one, I suggest calling Nintendo.

This is pretty neat figure. I don't mind the brick. It is not like it gets in the way of anything.
