I don't know why people get so worked up about Nintendo being doomed or not. Whether they go out of business or not, their fans will be stuck playing the same Mario, Zelda and Pokemon games for the rest of their lives anyway.
I saw this too today, 20% of ds sales are people that buy more than one ds or upgrading their ds's.

@ El Conrado, I bought multiple ds over the years. That's an advantage of their relative low price points. With the 3ds, I bought a black one at launch, and bought a zelda one, and I'm gona upgrade to the 3ds xl.

XL might do better than most people think... and the WiiU sales will make Michael Pachter seem like an old out of touch dinosaur.

I kinda figured, seeing parents buying each kid their own system so they don't fight over it, I imagined adults with more disposable income do the same, just for themselves.
I, myself, bought a DS Fat, two Lites (one to replace another that was stolen), and finally a DSi.
...and now I'm debating on buying a #DS XL to put next to my standard one...
...yeah, I'm part of the 20%.

Best part about Nintendo's near saturating sales is how incredibly cheap their products become on the second hand market after a year. I bight a Wii, 2 controllers, memory card, and 12 games for under $200 five+ years ago, I was given a DS for free three+ years ago (was fun for R4 gba/snes emulation, but now my smartphone does it all better, so DS is a paperweight), and I'll probably do the same with the WiiU.

So The Ds sold an average of 21 million units per year. I don't know what that information means but it's interesting.
That's more sales than there are people in Sweden. If all 3DS owners unite, we could take over this country! Gather my brethren! The time has come! We shall claim this land as our own!
I'd like to compare this to the DS, but given that the average customer bought at least two models of that system, the sales of the DS are probably the most inflated of any device in the history of gaming. The PSP is second and the 360 and it's terrible failure rate is a close third.
But yea. Nice turn around, but we've see yet to see if it'll appeal past the core Nintendo market.
