The last time we heard anything about Killzone 2 was back during E3 when Nex was going through a phase where he would give editors ridiculous nicknames. It's odd that Sony hasn't been saying much on the game. The PlayStation 3 is in desperate need for some original games that aren't going to get ported to the 360 at some point in its life ...

The screenshots don't reveal anything really. It's pretty much the same generic stuff they've shown before. All we know is that there's a war going on with alien forces trying to conquer the galaxy and blah blah blah. The only thing that caught my eye was the above picture. The enemy looks like a Big Daddy.

it's pretty and all, but I didn't want to play killzone 1 and I see nothing incredible gameplay wise that makes me want to play killzone 2.

Well, it seems they learned to blur the shadow maps (what was missing from the e7 demo)...

Why does that npc instantly remind me of a Big Daddy?

Looks nice...but I wonder if it's anything more than another standard FPS game.

And maybe I missed this for a week or a month or however long, but watermarking the images? Just don't. It's a pain in the ass for shooping.

i don't know what it is about the screenshots, but they seem weird. I mean, they look really nice, i have to give them that. but something about them just looks fake. i get no sense of depth and a lot of it just looks weird. i dunno.

I don't know but those shots look pretty weak. COD4 looks better than that. I'd like to see it in motion though.

I know they want Killzone 2 to be so amazing but I just can't see that from here. The first one left such a horrible taste in your mouth. Though the PSP game was fun :D.

These are old pics dude. I'm not sure if they're new on the internets, but these were in an old GI magazine, sometimes this year. I'm pretty sure, but I could be wrong

@ AngelsDontBurn: See it in motion, it's better looking than CoD4 in video. It's a damn pretty game with a supposed framerate of 30. If that's true, at least it will look pretty. Might be a good game.

It wasn't the Halo-Killer GameStop was payed to hype it as :P but it wasn't bad, I actually spent all last Summer slowly playing & appreciating the game. I like it alot & I'm hoping the seuquel doesn't "BlackSite-it-up" (suck).

The first Killzone sucked cock, and this one looks to be one that same level. I really don't see what people are so "Wowed" about when it comes to the game. It doesn't look that great to me. You got gray, black, gray, dark gray, brown, light gray, oh and gray. I'm sure if they could get away with making the fire gray, they would but I guess they realise people are too smart for that.

Seriously, I don't give a shit how "pretty" you models look, if everything is dowsed in bland colors it's going to look ugly. Besides, some of the textures look like shit up close. People expect too much from this game and the people developing it since the first one was grade-A horse shit.

It'll be a mediocre shooter at best, and hopefully that dumb as rock AI is ironed out. Those videos they released earlier showed enemies just standing out in the opponent waiting to be shot, and the ones who were hiding could be run up on without them even trying to kill you.

*Checks mail, finds a check from Sony.*

Oh.....hey, haha! I'm just fucking with you guys! This game is going to be awesome! :)

Wow the game looks stunning, if it runs that well with out the PS3 stutters should be the first good game out!!
Gears of war is like rainbow island compared to these lackless colour screen shots though!!still doesnt mean it isn pretty ;¬)

Totally agree with Trevor McGee...

- the first Killzone SUCKED
- the developers have never done anything noteworthy as a company

So why the hell is this game getting the hype that its getting????

... oh yea... $$$$! Thanks Sony!

@cjpkiller

it has a feature i am interested in, a cover system that could trump Vegas. the only thing i wish was different about Vegas was that the cover system would stay 1st person instead of changing to 3rd. that would make it harder and more realistic to pop out from cover, since you have to poke your head out just to see. Killzone 2 has this cover system with the first person view.

i also like the idea of the limited HUD, kind of like Hardcore mode in CoD4. i'm not saying it will be amazing, or the next coming of Christ. i'm saying that Killzone 2 has my interest.

also, if you had you all had the FragFX controller for ps3 like i have, you'd be interested in every ps3 FPS.

Yeah way to shit on a game that isn't even out yet. If you are not interested in this game then you must not have a PS3. I think it looks awesome. I don't own a 360 so this would be my first gray game (Resistance was more of a brown) and I am really looking forward to it.

This doesn't really seem like it's going to be the next big thing. I mean honestly, aside from a cover system, this doesn't seem to be touting anything else than intricate character models.

Now what we are looking for is Haze. That might make me go get a PS3. That or a FFVII or a Panzer Dragoon Saga remake.

And Killzone 2 is supposed to original somehow? I was under the impression it was filed under dark FPS.

I think this game belongs to the very obscure, mysterious genre of games called "First Person Shooters"

You'll think I'm crazy, but these games actually allow you to play a character from his point of view! AND SHOOT STUFF! I know, it sounds incredible doesn't it? Maybe this genre will overtake our beloved platformers someday!

***Killzone 1 and Killzone Liberation had both EXCELLENT multiplayer, which was more than enough to redeem themselves, but most people never tried them out...

CoD4 has better looking urban environments...and will no doubt be the far superior game overall anyway. The first Killzone was crap and everyone seems to forget that. Guerilla has never, EVER made a AAA title, or even a AA title. Extra processing power isn't going to turn them into AAA devs.

@EternalDeathSlayer:

You are just confused, because every screen for this game looks so damn similar. I can see where you would get confused.

Also, I never played the first 'cause I heard it sucked, but what are they doing gameplay-wise to separate it from the old title? It looks like a mix between CoD4 and Gears of War to me. While that doesn't sound bad on paper, it looks as though all they really took was CoD4's realistic-looking environments and Gears' monochromatic color scheme choice.

Where is the quality gameplay evidence? Or are they just banking on this selling due to the apparent power of its Blu-Rayz? It looks like that's what they're trying to do from what I've seen. Every preview only ever mentions how good it looks and mentions nothing in regards to quality gameplay, innovation of any kind, etc.

Overall: meh.

I'm not sure if any PS3 owner expected this to be the second coming of christ, I know I don't. I know halo3 was on that level, and while I'm sure its great did you feel that way after you've been playing it. But if you like the rainbow warriors of halo then maybe this game isn't for you. War is not pretty, its drab, ugly, and dark. If you think it isn't talk to a WW2 or vietnam vet, I'm sure most people know at least one you could ask.

I really hope this game doesn't suck. I'm sick of these damn dreary games with grim characters, grim landscapes, and grim action. Give me a decent story, decent characters, and good gameplay and I'll be happy. Anything less? FAIL. And it's already got one strike against it: It's a Killzone game.
