1001 Spikes knows how to do a launch trailer right

2:30 PM on 06.03.2014

Ooh, this is looking good. In the lead up to 1001 Spikes, there's been plenty of footage shared but much of it appeared to be from the earlier levels. Now, with this launch trailer, we've got a proper preview of the misery that awaits and hints at the story.

The game is out today on Steam, PS4, PS Vita, Wii U, and 3DS. Be sure to bring along a friend or three, as cooperative play is where the game truly comes alive. Nyx, Commander Video, Curly Brace, and a bunch more characters from other games are playable.

Aban is just the cutest little adventurer all bundled up in that snow level.

Bonus: here's a look at the 3DS version of 1001 Spikes courtesy of NintenDaan.

On 3DS, if you own VVVVVV, NightSky, Cave Story, Ikachan, or Grinsia, you'll save five bucks. There's also a 33 percent discount on Steam for owners of Cave Story+ or NightSky.
