Well you're obviously interested enough to read the article and comment!
Hell I DO HOPE Mega Man falls into obscurity, as long as the occasional good game gets made(namely this one). Maybe then people will look back at these games and realize how amazing they were, especially compared to the majority of stuff that gets released these days. Hell the first Mega Man has 2 frames of running animation and a single frame each for shooting and jumping, and fact: looks better than *most* modern 3d garbage. And that is without touching on the genius game play from the second and third games.
Also, I don't see why Capcom doesn't release the prototype onto the e-shop. It seems like a zero risk venutre. The prototype is already developed, all they have to do is publish it. If a game like House M.D. on DSiware is capable of making enough money to warrant sequels, I don't see why an MML3 prototype with coverage by many game blogs can't.
Seriously though. If this game ever sees the light of day, I will be the happiest man.
Aaaah, but that's an fool's dream, isn't it? I really, really want to play this game. Goddammit, Capcom. I'm STILL bitter over this.
Fans doing better than big companies may be sad in a way, but with how the industry has been going lately it shouldn't be that surprising.
Well, the next thing everyone needs to do is sign this petition, http://www.capcom-unity.com/devroom/go/thread/view/114725/28033281/SIGN_HERE_TO_SUPPORT_MML3!!!_CAPCOM_KEEP_YOUR_PROMISE!!!&pg=last#519027853 and follow these steps. http://www.facebook.com/notes/100000-strong-for-bringing-back-mega-man-legends-3/rolls-end-of-august-wrap-up-the-grand-master-plan-for-all-mmldash-fans/169412976466285
Even if Capcom does nothing, they'll know we hit a milestone. It hardly seems like a stretch to think maybe the Prototype will see the light of day at this point.
It's almost like they have no idea what their fans want.
What does it matter that it's for a handheld? If anything, that ought to be MORE incentive to buy it if all you are trying to do is make a statement. Game companies need to understand that portables aren't second-class platforms and that they ought to be served with as much care and attention as home consoles.
@bbain
Chris beat me to the punch this time. I think he did it just to spite me.
Well, since my previous links didn't work because I forgot to use BBcode, hee are some things our supporters need to do if they haven't already. (not to spam.) Join the Devroom and sign the officially Capcom recognized petition, and additionally follow these steps We gathered 100,000 supporters, now we have to show it.
Fuck Capcom.
@Flint
That's so funny coming from the kid who hates people for talking about Mass Effect.
I wrote boss strategies for every robot master, and wrote MM meets X fanfiction in Middle School. I'm a huge MM fanboy, Ponce just usually covers the offbeat stuff, and since Mega Man hasn't gotten a lot of gaming love in 2012, I find it hard to muster up a story.
Hopefully, "100,000 Strong" leads to a Prototype demo, at the very least. Also, I was surfing Facebook and randomly saw their update :p
Even if Prototype sucks, whats the worst that can happen? Its an Eshop game for one, and two given Capcom's release listing quality shouldn't be a factor.
If it is a success what then? They finish MML3? OH THE HUMANITY
I was there helping with the merging of 100,000 strong with OR.
...but c'mon, can we just get the Prototype on the eShop?
Look, it's not just that the game's been cancelled. It's the fact that not only did tons of people put a lot of their hard work and blood, sweat and tears into the Devroom only to get shafted, but also the fact that Capcom LIED! They said themselves that the game's release would depend on how many people download the demo. Who are you to tell us to just sit back and take this company's c*** up our a** for the next decade? Why should we let them continue to shaft us in every way possible?
And it's not only Capcom either. A lot of big game publishers are slapping us around like we're their b****es. And you expect us to just take it? I just cannot fathom what people have against fan movements. You want us to just give up fighting for something? You want us to abandon all hope we have and take everyone's bull? Okay sure. You can go ahead and do that while I will fight for something I believe in. Sure fan movements almost never work, but what can they hurt? Seriously?
Ugh..... There's my rant for the day. Anyway, sorry if I came off as rude, but it just irks me to no end when people say "Oh, who cares" to something that doesn't even hurt anybody. The least you could do is say congrats.
But yeah, congrats on 100,000! Capcom, what's up?
What would crush me more than this games never seeing the light of day is if it does see the light of day and it's terrible. That or it feels linear and as if the world is dead. You know since the original was so...awesome and...well deep.
Also, I honestly don't see how this game wouldn't succeed.
I'm more interested in seeing what the group is hoping to accomplish and maybe tell them to stop. Not that I can't get behind a petition or even don't support fans, but MML3 is just not happening. These people need to understand that the amount of time it took them to get to 100,000 is truly bad for the future of this game.
Capcom is 100% right in not supporting Mega Man because not many people care about it. While 100,000 might be able to turn a profit on prototype, releasing the full game is just idiotic.
But to be misled several times and then get nothing out of it was insulting. Here's hoping Capcom wises up and AT LEAST releases the Prototype Version.
