'Zombrex Edition' Dead Rising 2 announced photo

Europe is getting its own special edition Dead Rising 2, so why not North America? Capcom has announced today that North America will be receiving the "Zombrex Edition," a $79.99 package that contains a number of goodies beyond the game disc.

Both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the "Zombrex Edition" are largely the same, each shipping with a two-disc steelbook case that comes with a Zombrex syringe pen, a prescription notepad, a safety card, a 16-page Zombrex" prospectus sales brochure, and a 48-page artwork.

The PlayStation 3 versions comes with a Blu-Ray disc featuring a 24-minute "making of" feature, and a voucher for a dynamic Xross Media Bar theme. The 360 version gets a "high definition game disc" with the 83 minute "Zombrex Dead Rising Sun" movie and the 24-minute "making of featurette." Odd that with all of the space on the Blu-ray disc, it actually features less content, no?

The bundle's out when the game hits shelves on September 28. I must say, the lack of the awesome zombie doll that Europe is getting is a bit unsettling.

a zombrex syringe would look better on a shelf than a tacky doll.

@ CRAZYAPE69

You obviously did smack instead of play with toys when you were younger.

Yeah...they sell those syringe pens at flea markets and county fairs. Plus I still have the one that came with my Re-Animator dvd. Zombie doll is much better. All in all, kinda meh on this though an art book is always fun.

Eh.. I'm going to stop buying these "edition" games if they don't have anything useful or fun. Zombie toy would have been fun, pen that probably sucks isn't.

Sold. Though I hope there's a slipcover for that Zombrex steelbook case, as I'd kind of like the side to say "Dead Rising 2" when I put it on my shelf.

I agree with JiR INC. CE's have pretty much gone to crap in the past two years, it's kinda' sad. I'm a mega Halo fanboy and I have zero interest in either of the two special editions for that game.

Keep the pen and the other pretend branded crap, I just want my art book and game.

I'll just get the regular edition. Collector's editions are for games I'm actually going to keep, and I'm sure I'll be trading this in as soon as I'm done with it.

Wow, what happened with PS3 getting shafted in the movie department?

Other than that this sounds pretty nifty. But really only the movie and art book seem to have any value. Well for me at least. If you're a "collector" (and I do believe that's the target audience) the rest is probably good too.

Just not doing it for me... I usually will buy the LE's to the games I really want... but I'm sticking with my pre-order of the reg. edition of DR2.

No doll, yes, but do I really want to pay 150 Euros (aka $193) for a doll, even if it is a zombie?

Personally, artbooks are the CE elements I care about, so this one's more in my price range.

This is all $10 more than the game alone? Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

Wow, I was worried that the North American Collector's edition would be really underwhelming. I'm excited for the HD copy of the Zombrex Dead Rising Sun movie. The pen, not so much, but a steel case that makes it look like I have a 30 day supply of male enhancement meds sitting on my game shelf is just weird and awesome.

I don't know know. I keep hoping for CE that are on par with Bioshock 1 or Fallout 3 but I keep feeling underwhelmed.

Even Falliut New Vegas' CE is lacking compared to Fallout 3 in my opinion.

I suppose it's understandable that each different region would have its own unique editions. What I don't understand is why the PS3 and the 360 differ as much as they do. I do like the Zombrex syringe pen but I'm not entirely sure it's worth the extra cash, especially with Reach releasing around the same time and being rather pricey for the Legendary edition. Not to mention the sheer lack of DLC. Which I would easily take over random stuff they're offering.

Ehh. I kind of want this, but it depends on if I can get a job in time or not.

Artbook is really the only thing that looks interesting the set.

They still include making of featurettes on disks? Those are always on YouTube within minutes

I gotta say fuck limited and collectors editions. It's always fun when you buy and unpack it, but a few minutes later it's like: "Alright, now what the fuck am I gonna do with this?".

Because MS paid Capcom to make sure their version had the 84 minute movie as an exclusive. And I'm not saying this as some raging fanboy, I'm saying this as the PS3 (as Nick stated) has the format that's more logical for this type of stuff. Let's face it, Capcom (and other Japanese devs) believe that heavily swaying to the 360 means they'll be popular in the West's eyes so they'll make exclusive content for the 360 w/ a financial incentive to boot.

It's too bad Microsoft bought the exclusive on the movie, as well as the PreLC Case 0. But then again the first game sort of controlled like ass so I'm not sure how much anyone should care either way.

Sorry, but the exclusive movie for 360 is going to lead me to just torrent the bonus content and buy the regular edition. I have both consoles, but I would rather have the game for PS3. I would have prolly bit on the CE if both versions had the Movie and Making of content, but alas.

I enjoy the bonus / making of videos. Mostly because I like to drool @ the PC hardware they have for making the games. Also a fan of seeing the studio layout and staff vibe.
