Yes this is silly. Right now there are only 321 followers. Obviously I'm not going to follow right now. If you were not able to view how many followers there were already, it would be more fair/make sense. Since its so obvious, that creates an issue.

Great!! Another contest HACKERS can win. Other smart tweeters have acknowledged the fact hackers can get the right # for following. Tony Hawk even said on one of his contests. So may the best hacker win
@Sick Pigeon - I'm pretty sure that "hack" only affects your own twitter page, and it's really more of an exploit than a hack. Not sure how a hacker could affect the number of followers for someone elses twitter account.

Here I've been refreshing that page and waiting for the follower count to get higher before adding (so I would be closer to 1000).
You should have said it was a random number rather than number 1000... because I suspect a lot of people are just waiting it out and not wanting to be a follower while the follower count is so low.
... I guess I'll just have to put the IPod Touch on my Christmas list. :(
