[Update] Nintendo takes on publishing duties for The Conduit photo

The rumors were true! As revealed during Nintendo's fall Media Summit today, The Conduit has finally been picked up by a publisher, and it's going to be none other than the Big N itself.

Interestingly enough, Destructoid's very own Jonathan Holmes recently wrote about how Nintendo of America could improve its image with its core audience, and one of the suggestions was for the company to publish The Conduit. Coincidence? I think not.

While The Conduit is in pre-alpha, the majority of the single-player portion of the game is finished content-wise and is now being polished with a Q1 2009 launch date in mind.

[Update: As it turns out, Cammie Dunaway accidentally said "first-party" when she meant to say "first-person" in reference to The Conduit. As it stands, the game is still publisher-less. Thanks for the heads up, Cowzilla3.]

Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied: "bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways. I'm starting to think that Nintendo is Destructoid's biggest lurk. Can't wait for this game.

Is this confirmed? I was reading at Gonintendo and RMC said there was no official confirmation.

This is awesome news. Nintendo will be a perfect publisher for The Conduit. I can't wait to play this game either. One reason I still have a Wii around I guess.

What a douchey looking character. Reminds me of Cyclops.

I think they might need to tone down the range of neon colors on the main character, but this game looks better and better every time I see it.

Also, D-toid runs Nintendo confirmed.

I heard she just misspoke and that they weren't actually publishing the game just showing it off. She meant first person shooter...lemme find the link:

Yeah, they're unfortunately not publishing it. It was shown off at PAX at Nintendo's booth and had a lot of people who wanted to play it, so they really should consider publishing it, because I'm sure Nintendo fans would eat it up. Looks like it has some fun weapons, from what I saw.

As long as they get the multiplayer right, I want this game. Wait, although there is no confirmation, if this game IS published by the big N, does that mean friend codes? If so, I want this game published by EA. Now.

I can't believe they're showing people that hideous character design. Still buying the game, just - yikes. Good thing it's first person...

Never saw what the main character looked like...

Drop the late-90's wrap-arounds and the late 80's power-glove thing and he'll look loads better.
