Whoa. There's absolutely no way to overstate the significance of the Killzone 2 downloadable content announcement on the latest episode of GameTrailer’s TV. Last night Herman Hulst, Guerilla Games’ marketing manager, blew minds with the announcement of “Steel and Titanium,” a two-map pack with its source material already included in the single player campaign of the game.

According to Hulst, the first map -- the “Steel” -- is set on the ISA tech cruiser, the “New Sun.” The multiple floor structure will provide “a very new game flow” because of the amount of vertical shooting antics between the map’s walkways.

The other map -- the “Titanium” -- is set on two Helghast freight trains. Players will start on the beginning of the train and work their way to the next. Jumping between the trains can happen, but of course, will come with its own dangers -- there’s a pit between the trains.

“Steel and Titanium” will be released “towards the end of April.” If you’re already looking ahead (and why would you?) Hulst teased the next batch of DLC for the game:

“I can probably disclose to you that one of the words in the second pack we’ll release -- and I won’t say anything else on it -- will be ‘retro,’ Hulst said. “So maybe you guys back at home can sort of speculate on what we’ll bring out on it.”

So, fighting on trains and a tech cruiser? I'm in as long as there are opportunities to get a turret kill. What do you guys think about this announcement? Are you surprised? Did you want more?

I saw the show last night, and the maps look like fun, The first map "Steel" isn't so much my taste, as most maps that are vertical piss me off, but Titanium seems like a lot of fun, seeing n00bs fail at jumping across the gap will be entertaining as hell.

Also hell yeah for bringing back maps from the first KillZone!!!!!!!!!

I'll buy it. Hyping an announcement like this is ridiculous of course (we can pretty much count on additional map packs for FPS's these days), but it's welcome news nonetheless. Side note - marketing is funny. 'These two maps ARE THE BEST THING TO EVER HAPPEN TO YOU!!!!! YAHHHH!' *fist pump*

Alright, this is probably a dangerous place to put this link, but I want opinions on what makes KZ2 either good or bad.

I personally didn't like it, and don't care for the Dowloadable Content, but I've made a blog asking what makes KZ2 actually good? Cos I really don't get it.
Come have your say, but please don't flame me to death for having a different opinion to your own!

For how much?

Two maps...$5 max. Doubt it would be that cheap however.

A map "pack" should include at least 3 maps imo. Still, this is a must buy for me.

They shouldn't release 2 maps as a pack - that's too little. Bundle it with the second "pack" and you'll have a real pack. COD4 has 4 maps with its pack, so why can't they do the same. I don't mind waiting - I just don't want to have to pay for such little slices of content.

@Spectreman

Agreed. Within my first two weeks of owning the game, I've been ranked in the top 10% twice and have already made the highest rank. I need more! More more more more more!!!!!

As much as I love Killzone 2, I don't think I will pay more than $5 for only 2 maps.

The big Killzone 2 news is two new maps? This might be one of those times when they shouldn't have hyped it as much as they did...

Saw them on the show last night. The train map looks awesome. Watching dudes try to jump the game and getting creamed by a pillar will never get old. This is a first day buy for me.

Hell yes, original Killzone maps. I've knew this was going to happen (you were right Clance). My love for the first Killzone knows no bounds so I'm excited. I really like the feel of the spacecraft and train levels so that'll be a purchase for me.

Oh fuck. Money...
