'Several hours' of Duke Nukem Forever gameplay is finished photo

It's been a while since the Internet had its semi-regular Duke Nukem Forever mention, so let's have another. 3D Realms boss George Broussard is happy to let the world know that things are coming together for the game, and that the game has several hours of gameplay to show for ten years of development.

"It's going really well," states Broussard. "There are several hours of fairly polished game to play. We're actively testing parts of the game and getting feedback from play testers and things are coming together."

Wow, several hours -- and that's WHOLE hours as well, I'm willing to bet! "It's fun, it's in focus, we know what bits are fun and which are not, and it's just a matter of time now," continues the 3D Realms honcho. "I've probably never been as happy or excited about the game as I am these days."

That's an awesome coincidence, Mr. Broussard. I've probably never been happy or excited about the game either.

Dear 3DRealms;

You are a videogame company. Do not act as though creating playable builds of your product is worthy of celebration. We do not give high fives to McDonald's employees for creating half a big mac. No, not even if that McDonald's employee is Duke Nukem.

That is all.

XOXO

This is like if you order a pizza, and then it doesnt come so you forget about it. So, 5 years later, you get a call from the pizza place telling you that they're done with making the sauce.

Several hours suggests that all the levels aren't in place which suggests it's still Pre-Alpha. That's pretty shocking.

I still really want this game, and still really want to buy it.
It's been so fucking long, no matter how shitty or great the game is, I'm fucking buying it, and I'll be happy to do so.

Clearly, 3D Realms is part of the "Slow and Unsteady" school of gane development.

That works out as a whole 42 minutes of gameplay per year.

Bravo.

10 years or so and this what they have come up with is a couple of fucking hours of gameplay.
Geez, I could have finished this game years ago on my own

Technically, the current build hasn't been in development for ten years, keep that in mind, or it'd run on the old Build-engine.

News just in - DNF hasn't actually been in development for 10 years. They started just after making Prey. Or something.

This really is the stupidest thing I've heard since Denis Dyack's last audible brainfart. This game is no longer worth it and 3D Realms has got to be absolute shit to only have "several hours" of playable game finished after all this time. It's just sad and pathetic.

Let's make sure they tighten up the graphics and put the right sound effect in the last level.

Will this game make anything close to as much as the 10+ years of development costs it will have undoubtedly racked up? Assuming it ever does get released that is.

To be impeccably truthful,I find this rather humourous. They've possessed 120 months and they've only completed 420 minutes of actual gameplay lol.

And Several is.. what? 3? 5? 8? Because if it's any more than 7, ship it!

HL2 was only 7 hours long at a stretch, what are they waiting for!

So if several hours takes 10 years, does a full game take 50?
