'Nuff said: Good Old Games gets Another World photo

Another World -- or Out of this World, as many of you will know it by -- is now on DRM-free digital distribution service Good Old Games. It can be had for $9.99. Need I say more?

I love the game, even though I have never made it more than oh, five minutes in. It's more or less universally loved by the Destructoid staff. Not long after we got an email detailing the good news, the thread soon reached fifteen or so replies full of praise for the game.

Other, less exciting recent releases include: Empire Earth II Gold, Gabriel Knight 3, and Aquanox. Not to completely s**t on these games, but this is Another World we're talking about here.

* A little overpriced compared compared with other classic games in GOG. But it´s a fantastic game. Delphine could do a come back now, with games in that style for Live and PSN.

It's the "HD" remake as well, is it not?

I never got far in this game either, I remember downloading a copy off of a local BBS when I was about 13 it took almost 2 days with a 14.4 modem, I think the game was just over 1 meg. /memory lane rant

Without question the BEST game that I can't stand to play. I got turned off by the unforgiving trial and error gameplay. There are a lot of good Youtube videos if you want to check it out before forking over $10.

Done and done. I lost the disk to this years ago. $10 is a fair price to get it back. And Jordan, you need to finish this game. Sooo good.

very stylized, HUD-less game. well worth a play if you have never tried it! I would rather play Flashback though :)

Holy crap I remember this game like it was yesterday. The farthest I ever got in that game was busting out of a cage only to get shot by some dude with a laser gun. The death sequences were hilarious ranging from the little leech scratch of doom to being turn to dust by said laser. This game taught me a lot about insight when I was a youngin' playing this on the SNES.

AWESOME game. every bit of progress felt like blind luck the first time through. i may well pay for this, although i already own both the SNES cart and the PC HD remake.

@ munkee

never quite got into flashback. it felt halfway between this and oddworld, but not as satisfying or competent as either.

I have a bunch laying around, you can have one if you want to pay the shipping but its probably worth more to ship than what the snes is worth

OMG I played the shit out of this game with my sister on my genesis, trial and errored through the whole thing. Still have it! I remember always laughing with her when your companion first taps you on the shoulder and speaks, "My tuba!" lol! wtf did he say!?!?

Such a fun game...even if it is in a die-every-30-seconds sort of way. :)

Although I have the SNES version, I'm still picking this one up as I hear it's got some improvements.

@Everyone talking about the SNES version:

The PC version has far less load times and better performance overall than the SNES version. It's quite a bit better, IMO.

Heh, this game has been available for quite some years with HD support directly from the developers site. At least this way it will get way more exposure.

Sweet game. I'd buy it again, but not too long ago I did re-buy it when I knew Cahi was making a new game and selling this game with a few tweaks to play in modern PCs.

To my liking, it has one of the best endings ever. I remember it fondly.

i have the 15th aniversary edition and there is a bonus interview with eric chahi which is great! i like the part when jean-françois freitas talk about when chahi asked him to compose music to his new game. freitas asked him to show him some material from the game and the chahi responded that he already made the whole game in secret :)

This game has been one of my favorites for years, I still go back and play it every now and then. Such a great experience, being trapped in another dimension, not knowing what the heck is going on. Dang... great game, great ideas with the laser gun shield, great animation especially for the time, those cut scenes were so awesome. damn...

One the first true cinematic games - I guess Project Firestart is closest to the first though. Love Another World too bad about the sequel being depressing.

The SNES version of this game is garbage. The Genesis version easily bests it, although I prefer the HD remake. So, is it 100% confirmed that this is DRM-free? Reason being, I bought the HD remake a while back, and I seem to recall it being stated that you can only install and activate it three times. I have two left, but I'd buy this immediately if I didn't need to worry about that.

Actually, I couldn't resist buying it. There are games that I just can't buy enough of. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is one, and Out of This World (aka Another World) is another.

This is one of the first PC games I've ever played and let me tell you, I hated it. Then again, I wasn't even 10 years old by then, so it was nothing compared to Cosmo's Cosmic Adventure! I'm sure it's a great game and was back then, but I never found it fun (or colourful) enough hahaha
