What happens when you write a strongly worded letter to Q-Games' Dylan Cuthbert? The man gets things done. After TheBBPS's Ryan Hewson wrote to Cuthbert about PixelJunk Monsters' difficulty, he received a response chock-full-of information and exciting promises.
Cuthbert says that Monsters will be receiving a patch that will allow players to go through the offline mode in either Easy, Medium, Hard, or the new Expert modes. On the subject of the excellent PixelJunk Eden, Cuthbert hints at new gameplay modes, saying of the game's swing mechanic: it's "much too fun to waste on just one set of game rules." Oh, and if you think Eden is too hard, Q-Games may even be looking into "a more namby pampy mode for the 'lighter' people out there."
PixelJunk for Dummies? Fine with us -- both games are excellent, and whatever Dylan and company need to do in order for a wider audience to experience them, we're all for it.
But really: has anyone out there found the games to be too difficulty, or know of someone whining about their difficulty?

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Pfff you disgust me

And Rev's rant... I normally agree with most of the stuff Anthony says, but I'm going to have to disagree with his opinion on the "timer" in Eden. The game is already pretty easy with the timer, and what would be the point of playing without it? Just collect stuff until you get bored of jumping around? There needs to be some sense of gravity in the game, something to keep you moving along. I've never even run out of time in Eden, I don't understand how this could be a problem. It's like complaining about the level timer in Super Mario Bros. Yeah, it's kind of unnecessary, but who is going to stand around long enough to let the timer run out? I don't think I'm on the same wavelength as Rev. After all, he loved Passage, and I just saw it as "walking right for five minutes".
We think it's very important.
Then we argue, fight and beat each other as "You were supposed to build a fu*king air cannon and not an arrow" cuts deep, real deep.
I see this patch saving couples around the world, around the wooorld!
Fucking spiders.
If they introduce easy mode into titles like Eden, then there should be trophy penalties.
I wanna have to put in effort to get a reward, not be spoon fed :(
Monsters is probably the first game in years that has been downright insanely difficult at times, and I've found it's difficulty curve PERFECT.
Also, slightly on topic, what the HELL is with having to play a game through on an easier level in order to unlock a harder level?
Developers are turning into lazy wallet grazers. Games are getting shorter (thanks, 'Episodic' content), without the price tag dropping to match, and the selling factor is supposed to be replay value?
Peter Jackson should have made Lord of the Rings 10 minutes long. Then we could watch it through again standing up. And lying down. And whistling Mary Had a Little Lamb. OH THE REPLAY VALUE.
