Who buys this crap anyway?!
I swear this is gonna be the new wii.
There's no harm in buying stuff like this, I just think it's a waste of money. And I also think it's a waste of money to buy things like alternate costumes/weapon skins are a waste of money. They used to be nice as an incentive for unlocks in games, but actually paying money for them is a waste IMO. I do sincerely hope that people defending this have never criticized farmville, tapfish, etc.
THIS WAS ALL A PLOY FOR MICROSOFT TO SELL A SHIT-TON OF GUN PROPS! I hold in my hand the sales figures for the Holiday 2011 and HOLY FUCK, MICROSOFT MADE MILLIONS from people buying up avatar gun props in bulk!
DON'T DO IT, PEOPLE! I've come back to warn you!
Sincerely, Iron Man.
That means...
Microsoft now gonna thow the avatars in Concentration camps.
gonna be?
If you'd said that a year ago I would have agreed, but we're clearly past that now.
I lied,I'm fat and my arms are flabby as fuck.
and part of my point was that an avatar gun is not the same as a gun in game (not that I think buying in game weapons represents an amazing value either). You can't use an avatar gun, play around with it, it doesn't have an impact in game whatsoever, you just look at it. It's not like Skyrim and Cooking Mama are the same because they are both "virtual."
I guess it doesn't matter anyway. Consumers throwing money at this kind of stuff doesn't exactly set a good precedent on what developers can get away with in terms of selling on disc content, but once the next xbox comes around, I'm guessing all of these avatars, gamerpics, themes, won't be transferable anyway.
Which is just a little hilarious considering X360 has by far the highest ratio of M-Rated games compared to it's competition. Seriously, go look at the games they have at your nearest GameStop or Wal-Mart.
I guess this is Microsoft consistently sending the message that they have no consistent message.
How they snuck in in the first place is beyond me. This still sucks regardless. Weapons and video games kinda go hand in hand.
/absurdity limit reached....
Yeah, if your not banning the games either then I don't see a huge point.
"If you bought these items already, you will be able to keep them, but there will be no more "gun-like" items on sale in the Avatar Marketplace."
I never had an interest in these or really any avatar items unless they were free, but I may seriously take up these arms just a big screw you..Sure, yeah, I'll be handing them a few bucks for them (THAT'LL SHOW'EM!) but yeah.. Teach them to ban the "2nd amendment" in a virtual space (Go America, fuck yeah and all that /sarcasm.)
Any way, I'm still wondering why I can't use my "A Cool Dragon" I got for being stupid enough to "play" the retro arcade before realizing you had to pay a stupid amount of money to actually fill it. I don't even remember when they stopped allowing the dragon (think it was last years update, the very first Kinect one in the fall) but damn it I want my -free- dragon back.
Really, where's this policy coming from?
A need for good PR? To impress who? It certainly isn't going to impress, y'know, their original customers.
If Microsoft wanted to impress me they'd automute any screaming swearing muppets roaring down their mic at me for 15 seconds at a time. Hell, I might actually pay for their online gaming experience if they did that.
