Also, Dibs on Oddjob!
If you want this game released anytime in the next decade... keep Rare far away.
Also, nothing wrong with Daniel Craig.
Just leave the associated actors with the namesake. It hurts no one.
Rare is a'ight. The Kinect sports titles are really great.
Whis is why we'll never get KI3
Remake of the original on to be played with usable controllers and online mutliplayer = win!
Which while impressively balanced for an online game published by Activision, was ultimately ruined by the CoD elements that were shoehorned on it and the needless EXP grind just to play classic Goldeneye modes.
The single-player side was good fun and made me yearn for more first-person based spy fare.
Also, when are people going to realise that Rare is fundamentally not the same developer now that they were on the N64? That Rare is dead. It started falling apart over a decade ago. The Rare with MS is not that Rare, its just who's left. All that original talent went to other studios.
All in all it sounds like another cash-in.
Big surprise since its probably Activision's cash-in.
The word I was looking for was port, not remake! Port Goldeneye to the XBL Arcade with online multiplayer and HD graphics and I'm sold.
about 2 years ago there were rumors that Nintendo, Microsoft and Activision sorted things out in terms of GoldenEye 007. Activision would release remake of the game exclusively for wii and MS could release upscalled port of original on XBLA which was in the works at the time(there were some screenshots posted).
considering GoldenEye 007 was released last year, i'm guessing the rumors were true.
It was well-paced, had great graphics considering the hardware, had a competent multiplayer suite, and (most importantly) had the most intuitive and functional cover system I have ever seen in an FPS game... ever. Instead of holding an extra button and switching perspectives (see: Rainbow Six: Vegas series) or having a cover system where you could still be shot AND not see anything (see: Killzone 2-3) it offered the simplest of solutions: if you crouch behind something and pull the trigger, you automatically pop up above it. Genius!
In all seriousness, lead/story changes aside, Goldeneye on Wii was an excellent FPS game. It retained the spirit of the first film/movie while bringing it into the more modern vein of FPS mechanics. Heck, I even wish more FPS games would have the varying objectives per difficulty level like Goldeneye and Perfect Dark had. It makes the titles much more enjoyable on replays without making it feel overtly cheap (see: CoD).
Had the game released on the HD consoles with a more competent multiplayer suite it could have been the shooter of the year. Seriously. It already was, in my eyes.
I come from the Net - through systems, peoples, and cities - to this place: DTOID. My format: Guardian. To mend and defend - to defend my new found friends, their hopes and dreams, and to defend them from their enemies. They say The User lives outside the Net and inputs games for pleasure. No one knows for sure, but I intend to find out. ReBoot!
wait... were talking about a different kind of reboot aren't we?
I liked it as well, but I didn't go in expecting a true to the classic remake. I expected it to be some what like the old one, but closer to an entirely new experience, and it was. It wasn't a bad game, but people expected a true to the N64 version (for some reason...) and it was never going to be like that.
I don't know, I used to frequent different game forums all the time, and more people were complaining that it didn't stay true to the classic. Its possible they could just be spewing shit, which wouldn't be unusual, thats what gamers usually do, but I thought a lot were genuine complaints about somewhat baffling things like the laser watch, which I have to be honest, I don't give two shits about.
You could still see some of old goldeneye, and I liked that, I got what I wanted, but I'd really like a true to the old as well. Maybe some day.
