It's a shame about Modern Warfare 2's state on PC, but at least we've got Call of Duty 4 to fall back on for our ridiculously impressive mod needs. A total conversion mod called "Galactic Warfare" was found over on Bitmob, and it's too neat for me not to share with the rest of you.
That video up there should be more than sufficient in explaining what the mod is all about. More or less, it takes the rock solid multiplayer of Modern Warfare and tosses in a whole lot of Star Wars fun.
The new sounds for the blasters and the ships alone sent chills of "that's so effing cool" down my spine. Black Monkeys is the group responsible for this thing, and based on the latest update from the "Galactic Warfare" Mod DB page, we'll likely see the public beta come out prior to Christmas.

Yea this just made me cry a little at the lack of a recent Jedi Knight game, because this is exactly what it would look like. I will definitely have to reinstall CoD4 to try this out, though.
This is the fate of creativity. Given a huge resevoir of passion and talent, and a fertile canvas on which to paint... people just make Star Wars again. Or Lord of the Rings.

Not that it'll stop the most dedicated of modders, of course. It is loosely based on the Quake 3 engine, after all.
