Midway claims that these images they've sent us for the upcoming Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe are the "first ever." We're not sure if we're buying it, because we're pretty positive we've seen some around before, like some of the character and environment renders.

The action shots, however, may be be new. So it's for that reason we're inclined to pass them along for your viewing pleasure. In them, Scorpion is being put to the test, being pitted against Superman, Batman, and the Flash. That dude never gets a rest. Some of the environment renders look particularly interesting, like the war-torn Metropolis and very warm- and scary-looking Hell.

Midway have also announced that Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon and comic writer Jimmy Palmiotti will be appearing on a panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Friday, July 25. The two will discuss the upcoming game, showing off never-before-seen gameplay footage and revealing more roster details. Midway will also be handing out exclusive, limited edition Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe Comic-Con posters, so fire up your eBay accounts accordingly.

intrigued, but i'll wait until i can rent it.

and if someone doesn't photoshop that one with the flash (where scorpion is twisting his arm) into some kind of out of context gay joke before the end of the day, i'm going to be severely disappointed.

What a dumb concept.

Superman versus anyone

Superman wins.

Game over.

@Scientist tz:

Unless his foe was purely magic based.
Still though, I agree, Supes against any of the MK goons should never end in him losing.

I guess this follows the same story as the regular Motral Kombat, only the DCU this time.

Just gotta throw aside my comic fanboyism to even look at those screenshots.

Still banging my head against the desk over this. Can't wait to see how Power Girl looks though.

Well you were definitely correct in thinking Midway was full of shit. None of these screen shots are new, I've seen them all before, even the action shots.

Kind of not impressed with the Batman model/stages. Looks like a mix of the 60s TV Batman and Tim Burton. Superman looks a little bulky in some of them. Flash is the best looking DC character so far, IMHO. All the MK traditional characters look fine so far. Worried about how plastic-like the models are looking with large areas of solid colors, though, including flesh tones.

Worst idea ever. Also, Superman remains an incredibly boring superhero.

These aren't actually nearly as bad as they could have been. I like the subtle tweaks to the classic costumes and the graphics don't look that bad, actually.

While I don't think it's the best marriage of two different series ever (MvC FTW!) it's still more compelling than it likely deserves to be.

I can't wait to find out the entire roster and moveset. If the Flash isn't the fastest character in the game then someone fucked up. Plain and simple.

@Scientist tz: Unless it's Batman with Kryptonite boxing gloves on. Or Doomsday. Or R'as Al Ghul. Or anyone else that has beaten Superman.

Or, ya know, any of the magical characters of the MK universe fighting in a mystical realm where the earth's sun doesn't shine.

Superman is the lamest superhero ever made. Hands down. You fail.
