That hulking controller that we haven't seen the final version of yet and that the majority of the ones who have played it have said isn't annoying to play with.
Or is this more of a "QQ I don't wanna remap buttons" sorta thing?
"Ow yes kindly don't rip off the cod MP again and bring back power struggle."
"bring back power struggle."
"power struggle."
Fuck.
Yes.

By all means I fully agree with the mouse/keyboard approach. Never personally been a fan of controllers of any type when it comes to FPS.
if by 'first-person shooters' you mean 'video games' then yes
*compares this to not getting Crysis 3*
Yeah...for some reason I'm pretty sure that I'll live.
whatever reason, I would really like Nintendo to at least have enough power to play multiplatform games/not being easy as fuck to emulate.

It also sounds like the WiiU will be overflowing with Wii HD remakes.
I know that they could use classic controllers as the main control scheme, but even the classic controller doesn't have clickable control sticks. If people say Mouse+keyboard is better than control sticks, then controls sticks are better than circle pads.
To be fair, that was a pretty awesome game, even though it nicked every gameplay idea from something else.
Final version or not the controller is gonna suck for shooters. That's a guarantee, specially with it's use of nubs and not analog sticks.
sort of agree'd but unfortunately that's the attitude that makes it so that Nintendo will probably always be the console people only buy for first party games.
I know people are defending Wii U by saying "No crisis 3? I'll live, didn't want to play it anyway" but the more third parties Nintendo loses, the faster it's going to go downhill.
My God. I've seen people blatantly ignore facts about next-gen systems when it comes to yet-to-be-released hardware, but people commenting on the Wii U's controller has been like a tragedy unfolding on stage.
I see where you are coming from, but that's kinda how its been the last couple of gens anyway. 1st party games push the hardware and I don't see Nintendo changing entirely for the Wii-U either.
What we have so far though is alot more 3rd party support than Nintendo's had in forever so its still alot to be excited about. Crysis though, could hardly be considered a loss considering most people who care about it would rather play it on their high end DirectX11 rigs anyway.
Part of the reason, for me personally at least, is that I'm not excited to spend another 6 years with the wii remote, and it's not THAT great of an alternative for traditional games. Classic controller is okay, but I'm also not excited about having the classic controller anchored to the wii remote, along with it's non clickable sticks that make a traditional console/pc more appealing.
Along with the fact that developers may not even choose to use the wii remote/classic controller. The wii could technically use gamecube controller and classic controllers, but 99 percent of games opted for the wii remote anyways, even if it was the worst control scheme. If nintendo really is trying to "bring together hardcore and casual gamers" making that tablet the default controller is a bad way to do it. I at least hope that Nintendo will include classic controllers with the Wii U to encourage developers to design for it, and I hope that Nintendo doesn't make the tablet MANDATORY for all of its first party games (although that second point is unlikely)
Everyone else will have a system without a shit controller, or at least the option to ignore gimmicks
You do know that Ubisoft is making an exclusive FPS for the Wii U right? The controller is meant to be quite light and could do LOADS for the experience, getting rid of the HUD, maybe using the controller as a scope.
Saying 'fat chance' is dumb, if the games coming out next spring they would have PLENTY of time to port it over. If the Wii U is more powerful than the current systems as it should be, they could do a lot with it. It could be a huge marketing boon for Crytek if they play it right.
Especially if the game doesn't suck ass like Crysis 2 did...
The games plot sounds like a mess. The only thing I'm liking so far is ideas directly taken from other games and films like Turok (bow) and District 9 (use alien weapons because you have alien DNA etc).
@Hamza CTZ Aziz
So much hatin...
:P
@Lord of the Thunder
Darksiders isn't even as good as Okami, nevermind being able to match Zelda.
@pedrovay2003
Yup, people seem to forget that the Wii U can practically do everything the Wii can do and better.
@llort het
I hate the Classic Controller, it's designed like a Sony Dualshock what with the sticks in the wrong place.
Clickable sticks always have been and always shall be a pain in the ass, terrible excuse for a button.
Personally, I'd be surprised if the Wii U didn't come with Wiimote & Nunchuck bundled.
1: keyboard (or similar device and mouse)
2: Ps move/wiimote
----Huge gap----
3: wiiu controller and ps-vita due to their touch screen giving it a little bonus Maybe the vita a little higher than the wiiu because its smaller and it has those pads on the back on the other hand the wiiu has triggers which the vita does not so that would balance things out.
4: conventional Dual analog controls.
5: 3ds/psp controls
---huge gap--
6: touch screens
-----Enormous gap-----
-----Another enormous gap-----
7: Kinect
Crytek couldn't properly optimize their way out of a paper bag let alone achieve a locked 60fps on any given hardware outside of theoretical 'future tech' where they are, conveniently, never held to it.
Just sayin'
Where the hell is Time Splitters 4? That's what I want to know!
Nintendo fans will be playing mario and zelda only for the next X # of years and that's about it.
peeee u
I agree with 100% of what you said. I just hate when people assume EVERY SINGLE WII U GAME will use the tablet. Hell, that game with the Miis already showed four people using the Remote and Nunchuk combo, while a fifth person used the tablet.
And I do agree, tethered Classic Controller is a pain. On the other hand, I think it may be the most comfortable traditional controller I've ever used -- I'd take it over the PS3 or 360 controller any day of the week. Then again, I still say the best FPS control scheme I've ever used on ANY platform was in Metroid Prime 3.
