if they are going to falsely think that you cant help them
just like you cant help the people thinking this is nintendos "fault" when in reality they saved the game after sega dumped it
Full Disclosure: I just preordered my WiiU and and I have a PS3 that I played Bayonetta on, so I'm good.
I don't have a Wii. I don't want a WiiU. Nintendo franchises do not interest me. However, I loved Bayonetta.
I also don't have the expendable income to buy a new console just for one console.
I feel excluded from the cool Bayonetta 2 party despite being a huge player at the last one
It's pretty interesting to peek into the minds of video game "fans".
That one in particular is just the most defeatist of the bunch that it really gave me a good giggle. 5 minutes out of bed, this person finds out that a sequel to a game that they cherished was saved from the brink of cancellation. It ruins their day. It ruins their day because a game that doesn't exist yet, is coming out on a console that also doesn't exist yet.
God, when a Mario game comes out on a "REAL" console, just think how many days that will ruin.
As with Bayonetta, Bayonetta 2 is under development and production here at PlatinumGames, and is a true sequel to the acclaimed first game in the series. Bayonetta is one of our most beloved titles, and it played a large part in establishing PlatinumGames as an emerging game studio in the minds of users worldwide. Bayonetta has fans the world over, and we would never dream of alienating them from participating in the future of PlatinumGames.
That being said, the console games market is in a state of upheaval, so establishing a new game franchise requires a considerable amount of will, determination, and love. Bayonetta is a brand that we want to see become stronger, reaching the hands of more and more gamers, so we have continued to consult with SEGA, the previous game’s publisher, on how we can make sure this takes place. Our answer was a new partnership with Nintendo.
Along with their new hardware, Nintendo, as a company, is dedicated to establishing a new future for the games industry, as you can tell by their record of passionate support for gaming. Alongside Nintendo, we hope to grow the Bayonetta brand beyond where it stands today, allowing even more gamers around the world to experience the action of our beloved witch. As developers, we are working hard to make this a reality.
We hope that you will look forward to what we have in store."
From Platinum Games site.
It's hardly the light of reason, more the light of common sense. It's barely that, it's just "look at the stupid people saying stupid things". We get it.
Might see if we can make Bayonetta 2 trend worldwide with Wii U owners from around the world hugging and crying tears of joy that it's out over the corpses of the suicided. Fun times.
It's not like platinum said "hey, let's stop developing bayonetta 2 for Ps3 and 360 and let's make it a WiiU exclusive, that will be fun".
It was canceled game that would still be canceled if it wasn't for Nintendo, because no one (including the ultra mega real hardcore for hairy men Sony and Microsoft) wanted to invest in it
Unfortunately, this really does feel a bit like extortion. It feels like they are publishing one game that the hardcore gamers love to try and swindle them into buying a wii U, only to turn around and revert back to the same company that refuses to sell Mother 3, Xenoblade, The last story, etc. because those games aren't wii fit.
I am definitely glad that Bayonetta is getting a sequel, I will definitely play it eventually, and I really hope nintendo changes and they can actually work well with 3rd parties, I'm just not getting my hopes up.
If it were multi-console and on Wii U, that'd be totally fine. But I have the original on 360, I want the sequel on 360, or at least the next-gen systems. The exclusivity argument isn't strictly relegated to Wii U; had the game been announced as PS3 exclusive or 360 exclusive fans would be upset (though perhaps fewer of them, given the install base). With the first game on 360 and PS3, that's where fans were hoping/expecting the next title would be. Is it any surprise that people who do not own/have no interest in owning a Nintendo console are upset that a game they want is now exclusive to the machine they don't own?
And again, Bayonetta never came out for the Wii, and while the Wii/Nintendo could certainly use more titles in the M arena, slapping exclusivity on something that was never exclusive before does feel a bit like a slap in the face.
By extension, Anarchy Reigns is pitched as something of a pseudo-continuation of MadWorld. While MadWorld is excellent, and has a smaller install base than Bayonetta, were there not upset fans that the Wii wouldn't get Anarchy Reigns? I understand why games are exclusive and it seems pretty clear to me that the game probably wouldn't see the light of day without Nintendo bankrolling it, but I had this hope, perhaps born of idiocy, that I might be able to play the sequel on the systems I own, and on the same systems that the first game was such a success on.
But that's just my piece, and I'm just a fanboy/consolefag/obvious anti-Nintendo asshole.
Which is, of course, why they agreed to have it exclusively on a brand new console that none of the fans of Bayonetta have. That's not alienating fans at all!
I knew I wanted to play Rayman Legends, some new mario and a future smash bros, I just would like to know there's definitely going to be good first and third party games besides what we already know about.
And I'm definitely gonna feel burned by Platinum if I see this on PS4 or Xbox Advertisement Sphere 2 as Bayonetta 2 REAL NAUGHTY edition...
It just turns out Twitter was less of a thing back then, now we can rub it in their faces.
Nintendo likely believes this will win the WiiU with the hardcore, I imagine this will boost sales a little but Nintendo is going to have to do a lot more and I personally feel this was a bad choice cause it's pissed a fair few off as well. If this had been a brand Zelda or Mario (Even if just a trailer) and especially a underused property like F-Zero, Metroid or Star Fox I imagine that would of helped a lot more than this. A port of Bayo1 for WiiU wouldn't of gone amiss either but will we see how it plays out.
The only annoying thing about this is that Sega forced Platinum into this position. Props to Nintendo for keeping the franchise going, even if it slightly annoys me that it won't be multiplatform.
ROFLcakes. OMFG. That one is my favorite. Who does he think cares? I'm beginning to believe Twitter was developed as a brilliant psychological tool with the primary purpose of getting people to broadcast documentable proof that they're dumb, 24-7.
Runner up favorite - "Today has been ruined."
Also, what's with Dtoid cherry-picking idiotic comments so much lately.
Now? I'm going to buy the WiiU and a copy of bayonetta, a game i have never played, just on the off chance that my purchase will make one of these wastes of life off themselves.
these next couple of years will be interesting with the big N making moves and doing things.
