'Broken Steel' might not be the last bit of Fallout 3 DLC photo

Whoa, back up the disappointment truck. “Broken Steel” might not be the last expansion for Bethesda’s Fallout 3. Pete Hines recently told OXM that profit would provide the motive for the creation of at least one other bit of DLC.

“Whether [‘Broken Steel’ is] the absolute last one remains to be seen,” he said. "Because it's been hugely successful. ‘Operation Anchorage’ vastly exceeded our expectation. It was like 'holy shit, we did how many?' and ‘The Pitt’ was really successful, after a bit of a false start."

Publishers and developers don't ignore money. Surprise!

Seriously, though, it would be nice to visit Fallout 3 again at some point in the future. Let’s just keep pushing that level cap up, Bethesda. Leveling is fundamental.

Anchorage exceeded what expectations? Surely not critic's?

Broken Steel is pretty cool, but I hope New Vegas ships as a complete game, and not a "pay $60 now, and $10 later for your finished product" scheme.

It's only because the expectations were so low ...

Zuh? How was DLC finished product? If it was already finished they'd have released them a lot sooner and they wouldn't have so many bugs =\.

And until they release this stuff over PS3 I say; nay-nay.

Every time Bethseda releases an expansion for Fallout 3, a PS3 fanboy dies.

I thought fallout was a pretty complete game. Actually felt I got $60 worth unlike most other games where you're lucky to get 8 hours. I've already gotten 60+ hours from fallout and broken steel is really going to push that up. Just curious as to what aspect of the game you feel was incomplete. I mean it with no disrespect. For me the fallout 3 extended the experience that was already a complete package.

Shut the fuck up... "Finished Product Scheme" What is that, of all the games you lay that one on Fallout is the least of the bunch... I can tell you this I know I got my $60 out of it twice over with the 100+ hours of gameplay... WAY before Anchorage even came out! I'm sick of you people bashing DLC yes I understand some game company's should have just left it apart of the main game (Resident Evil 5 I mean you whore!) but other company's take pride in DLC (Rockstar Bethesda) And I hope they keep that shit coming to cause I will always spend another 10 bucks if that means I get to enjoy that amazing game even more!

I still need to finish FO3. I got six hours into it on launch day and... never picked it up again.

Yay! More DLC!
Fallout 3 is not as good as the original's Fallout's but it's pretty good, so keep it coming Bethesda.

I'd consider Broken Steel the finished product because the main story line didn't complete the Enclave arc. The original game was kind of a "Return of the Jedi, we killed the Emperor but what about the rest of the Imperials" feel.

@D-Nez
I'm comparing it to Oblivion and Morrowind here, but:

The ending was bad/disjointed

The level cap of 20 was a joke (you can get a few top level perks and that's it? It's like they rushed the game out), considering Oblivion had 50 levels, and a much more detailed skill system, that could be furthered even after you cap out

The World was way too small

I will certainly agree it has more to offer than most games, but compared to Bethesda's previous showings: they could have done better.

The new DLC is most likely called Point Look, which is listed on estarland.com for sale w/ Broken Steel on June 9. This would make sense, as they are releasing the first two DLC packs on a disc as well.

Wait, they might be making more DLC for Fallout 3?
With the money it earns them?
Let's all act surprised.
...Can't wait for it nonetheless.

I hope the next DLC deals with the Super Mutants. The game didn't really do much fleshing out of their goals/structure other than "capture humans to eat/turn into mutants". They need a leader of some sort, they're too organized otherwise.

I was hoping there would be more DLC. I don't know why people complain so much about it; if you don't like it, don't buy it. I love Fallout 3, I loved all the DLC so far, and I'll continue buying DLC until Fallout 4 with a huge smile on my face, if possible.

I don't know if I need more levels and perks. on my most recent save I have all SPECIAL stats at 9 which made every skill a 100 (excluding Medicine which is sitting at 99). I suppose from here on out any perk I get will be strictly for fun, like the Nuclear Anomaly one.

I'm waiting for the dlc to go retail first. That said, I'm on my 3rd playthru (1st good, 2nd evil, 3rd neutral) on pc so no achievements. My latest build has 100 across the board for skills and all 10 but charisma with gear upgrades for skills. That said, more dlc the merrier once it hits retail for me. (just like oblivion)

I never played oblivion or morrowind. But man, if fallout's world is small in comparison it must be quite the map.

The ending was disjointed. I liked what they tried to to but it seems like they couldn't flesh it out.

I'd actually like to see more meaningfull consequences for a players actions. Like it would be coolid you took drastically different paths depending on who you killed or helped but I guess that's a tall order.

That being said Bethesda has by total respect (op. Anchorage aside) and I I'm pretty excited to see what they have obsidian do with Fallout in Vegas.

If the maps become big enough I wonder if vehicles would fit into the gameplay.

Yay! My 50 (I payed 50 for it at least) dollar game will now be even more expensive!

Whatever happened to just finishing a game and then releasing it at retail price? Oh right, profits....

My bad.

If they do release more, they need to raise the level cap to 50. Why the fuck they ever set it to 20 I have no clue. Even more maddening is why only raise it to 30? It didn't take long at all to get to 30.

Limit cap kinda spoiled my FO3 experience. There was just no need! Fallut 1 & 2 you could just carry on playing after finishing the final quest too, just go round and exterminate the human race - was hella fun.

Bring the DLC to PSN and I will buy. I promise.

All this Microshaft exclusive DLC is pissing me off.

There are some consequences for your actions in FO3, aren't there. I mean, in my second playthrough I went the evil route, blowing up Megation on the way, and I swear when wandering the wasteland the random attacks from dogs, rats, raiders, slavers, Tallon, etc came in much, much larger and more frequent waves. Which was kind of fun, if not a little hairy at times. And yeah, bring the DLC to the PS3, Bethesda (if you can). The PS3 guys are really missing out not having this stuff.

We dont want DLC, we want EXPANSIONS! Shivering Isles for Oblivon was the best part of that game. If they did a similar size expansion for Fallout 3 i would buy it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, as I didn't play them, but wasn't the lvl 20 cap present in FO 1 & 2?
Also, I don't think the original ending was a scheme...just a mistake that they corrected.

I can't get enough of Fallout3! I've enjoyed all the DLC so far, mainly because its just more Fallout. I wouldn't mind if they came out with some of the smaller DLC stuff like Smugglers Cave and Fighter's Stronghold in Oblivion. Not instead of larger DLC but I just want more things to do in the Wasteland. Please raise the level cap again too, I'm almost at 30 already.

@Magnalon

I haven't played any Bethesda games besides Fallout 3(i've already ordered Oblivion), but i don't think the size of the world is something that important. I mean, it's friggin awesome to have that huge world to explore, but they could put more work in the history(which was crappy)and less in the size of the world. And i dindn't have trouble with the skill system, i even liked it because it was like the originals Fallout's.
What i don't like is the whole "you buy a part of the game now and rest after", that shit pisses me off.

PS: Fallout 1 = Level Cap 20
Fallout 2 = Level Cap 99
