'Bleach' finally comes to North America photo

The strange hybrid gamer/anime fan is a rare beast. They (we?) can't decide on pizza or Pocky. They're doomed forever to cosplay Final Fantasy characters. Their monthly income is f**ked worse than any other type of fan, as the 5-hit combo of games, anime, manga, conventions, and an internet bill would rape the wallet of even the wealthiest otaku.

Even after all of that, there's things that are just out of their reach, and lately it's been the Bleach games for the Nintendo Wii. Tite Kubo's Bleach is a story about a high school student that one day finds himself becoming a death god (reaper). It's a great story and the content makes for amazing fighting games with tons of characters.

Japan has been waving their wiimotes in our faces all this time as they've been happily playing games from the popular anime series on the Wii, Sony PSP, and Nintendo DS while we're stuck with old, sh*tty Naruto duds. Thankfully, Sega comes to our rescue with the announcement of America's first Bleach titles.

North America will see both Bleach: The Blade of Fate for the DS and Bleach: Shattered Blade for the Wii. Blade of Fate was actually made by Treasure and has 28 characters from the show's huge cast available for portable fighting action. Fans are more excited about Bleach: Shattered Blade, as they get to use the wiimote as a sword, letting players cut up other death gods. This title has 32 playable characters, although it's unclear whether there may be cuts to the lineup due to how far behind the story is as far as North American DVD releases go.

Even though these are older titles as far as Japan is concerned, American fans will happily take what they can get. We can't wait to scream out "BANKAI!" at the top of our lungs. Thanks so much, Sega.

Rare beast? Otaku gamers are common as goblins/slimes/grid bugs/headcrabs/[insert favorite fodder monster here].

Wow, Treasure. I had no idea they made a licensed game. Is that a first?

"Bleach Wii: Hakujin Kirameku Rondo" is an amazingly fun game, it's about the only game that has stayed in my wii for more than a week or so. but there are alot of things that will need to be cut for the american version if they intend to make any sense at all with people who can't handle either fan subs or scanslations...

hello, my name is mike and i'm an otaku

It's a great story and the content makes for amazing fighting games with tons of characters.

what he meant to say was the first 25 episodes are good

then Bleach dissolves into filler for the next 100 episodes. like DBZ, Cept DBZ was still fun to watch, still on namek or not.

and while the concept does make for a good fighting game

its a ANOTHER GENERIC 2-D fighting game!!....a licensed fighting game, theres a reason they don't import it.

Sorry just got home from work, i don't need fucking bleach on my destructoid

Lol the show was boring as hell for the first 25 episodes. It's a fighting anime with a fighting game, not some pussy thing to be arsed with "story" and crap like that.

Also lol. If I wasn't a work, I'd be pouring bleach all over your destructoid D=.

How are otaku gamers a rare breed? I can't think of any of my mates who enjoy anime that don't play games. On the other hand I have a lot of mates who like games, but despise anime (despite my attempts to enforce GiTS on them ^_^; ).

Heat the Soul 4 is the best Bleach fighting game though, it'll always have a place on my memstick just to see Ichigo's hollow form owning up!

Thinking Dragonball Z is better than anything is a crime.

Anyway, to answer a question, the Bleach manga is up to Volume 20. That should cover pretty much anything in the Bleach games being brought over.

Wow, I don't think a truer statement has ever been written. It can be painful at times!
