OK, so they didn't really say that.
But being ignored by Bill Gates kind of negates all that awesome publicity Sony got at CES. It was only a couple of months ago that Microsoft called the Wii a "kid's toy". Make up your minds guys.

I've noticed that in Nintendo Power and "Official X-Box Magazine" they don't make fun of eachother, but they both constantly take shots at Sony. An OXM writer even recently put under the "Now Playing" column the new Zelda, because "even X-Box guys kneel to Nintendo."
This of course is because Nintendo and Microsoft both go on merit as their money-making strategy, and both benefit from a benevolent atmosphere, while Sony tries to profit from naivety. Hopefully it's about to fail.
This statement, while seemingly a compliment to Nintendo, in a way, is in fact, proof that the opposite of what Bill said is true.
Nintendo it seems is the weapon of choice in the console wars between Sony and MS.
Bill was not actually saying, "Nintendo is our main competition". He was actually saying, "Sony, you suck, even the underpowered Wii is kicking your ass". Which just goes to show that MS really is fighting with Sony, and they have to say Nintendo is the REAL competition in order to insult Sony, by the implication that Sony is NOT the competition.
Or I could be drunk and over analyzing this. Nah.
