$1999.99, the perfect price for a set of Guitar Hero peripherals photo

When it comes to my rock n' roll-themed videogames, don't get me wrong -- I like to rock out. But I can't find any other way to describe this bundle by ArtGuitar as anything other than completely bat s**t crazy.

According to ArtGuitar, the RiffMaster Pro bundle is "a complete speaker system and guitar controller package designed to improve the experience of guitar-based music videogame tournaments in bars and nightclubs." The package includes a fully-functional PA system by Peavy, powered by four 10" high powered speakers and two tweeter drivers. The PA system also has a place in the head unit for a console, which will make it the perfect target for thieving drunks.

Additionally, the package ships with a microphone and two life-sized custom Peavy guitars, designed to work with the PlayStation 2. The guitars can be purchased individually for $399.99 a piece, so let's be real -- with everything you get, the RiffMaster Pro bundle is a steal at $1999.99. No, that's not a typo, and yes, $1666.66 would have been a much better price.

The package will make its debut at the CES show in Las Vegas this January, and can be purchased (along with custom guitars) at www.artguitar.com.

Not really that expensive if you own a nightclub or bar.

When I read the headline, I thought to myself, "Sweet Jesus." I thought it was another eBay debacle.

But now I read the article.

Sweet Jesus.

the guitars look pretty cool, but the price tag is just so damn.. oh whats the word... ridiculous, i think thats the right word. Unless you desperately need to show off to your friends or are filthy stinking rich and can afford this, i dont believe anyone should buy this

Let's take bets on how many bars will actually purchase this. Further bets will entail how long it is until a rowdy patron smashes their guitar after a "totally rocking" performance.

So i went to the site and checked. $400 is $350 too much AND the buttons are upside down. Who let that pass?

So...er, for that price...why not just buy a real guitar and amp? Y'know, actually learn to play the damn thing?

I mean...sheesh.

This is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. The $2K bundle actually makes a certain amount of sense for a bar. But WHY THE FUCK does it support PS2? If you're going to pick ONE console for a bundle like this, wouldn't it make more sense to choose an HD-friendly one? Any bar willing to shell out the money for this probably intends to have HD screens to play the game on. Am I nuts here?

Hey I wrote about this once!

It still blows my mind how absurd it is.

I'm not sure what bars would spend this kind of money for a game. Most bars I frequent have an actual live band over game controllers for a music video game. You know support actual bands in your community to come in and play for your customers. I don't know about you, but I'd rather listen to actual live music rather than some drunk trying to play a song on a $2,000 fake guitar system. That and the fact that normally when live music is playing you have to pay a cover to get in, and if I'm going to be listening to people play guitar hero instead I ain't paying for that crap. You would have to justify spending $2k and getting a return on it. I just can't see it.
